Volkswagen has introduced the Tayron, its latest three-row SUV, to the global market. This second-generation model is expected to succeed the Tiguan Allspace as an extended version of the new-generation Tiguan. Positioned between the larger Touareg and Tiguan, the Tayron features advanced technology, increased size, and four powertrain options, appealing to a wide range of consumers.

The new Volkswagen Tayron offers an additional 198 liters of boot space and 231mm for a third row of seats. However, the PHEV variant, with its 19.7kWh battery, cannot fit seven seats, leading to a reduction of 18 liters in boot capacity compared to the 885 liters available in the standard five-seater.

The Tayron's interior features a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, with an optional 15-inch head-up display. It also includes ADAS features like Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Autonomous Emergency Braking.
The new Volkswagen Tayron offers four powertrain options: petrol, mild-hybrid petrol, diesel, and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). It starts with a 1.5-liter turbo petrol mild-hybrid producing 150 hp. There’s also a 2.0-liter turbo petrol with 204 hp or 265 hp, available with front-wheel or four-wheel drive.

The 2.0-liter diesel comes in two versions, 150 hp or 193 hp, with the 150 hp version featuring VW's 4Motion 4WD. All variants use a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox. The PHEV combines a 2.0-liter turbo petrol with an electric motor, offering either 204 hp or 272 hp and over 100 km of electric range, powered by a 19.7 kWh battery with fast charging at up to 50 kW DC.
The new Volkswagen Tayron is set to launch in March 2025, though pricing details are yet to be confirmed. Its larger interior space is expected to result in a higher price than the Tiguan.
The all-new Volkswagen Tayron is a versatile three-row SUV, designed to bridge the gap between the Tiguan and Touareg. Offering various powertrain options, advanced tech features, and extra interior space, it caters to a wide range of consumer needs. Expected to launch in 2025, the Tayron will likely come with a higher price point due to its expanded size and features, making it a compelling option for families and those seeking a spacious, modern SUV.
