Suzuki has introduced its first electric vehicle, the eVitara, set to compete with the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV. The eVitara will be available globally, including in markets like India, Japan, and Europe.
The eVitara has a 2.7-meter wheelbase and is 4.23 meters long, placing it in line with competitors. It will come with two battery options: a 61kWh pack available in 4WD and FWD, and a 49kWh pack in FWD.
The 49kWh battery version pairs with a motor producing 142bhp and 189Nm of torque. The 61kWh pack has two setups: a 2WD with 171bhp and 189Nm of torque, and a 4WD with 64bhp from the rear motor and 181bhp from the front, generating a combined 300Nm torque. This 4WD system is Suzuki’s most powerful motor in 20 years.
The e Vitara’s interior gets a major upgrade, with a stylish horizontal dashboard and a dual-screen floating infotainment setup. Key elements include brushed silver AC vents, a flat-bottom twin-spoke steering wheel, fabric and leatherette seats, and a rotary drive mode selector.
It also has physical AC controls, large door pockets, drive modes (including ‘Trail’ for AWD), an electronic parking brake with auto hold, hill descent control, Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging.
Production of the e Vitara is set to begin in March next year at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, with a global release planned for June 2025.
