Mercedes-AMG has introduced the inaugural vehicle of its "Mythos" lineup, named the PureSpeed, which draws inspiration from the brand's Formula 1 legacy and classic race cars.
This two-seater open-top roadster appears to be modeled after the SL convertible, as indicated by its taillight and headlight design. It features a lower grille with a white-painted AMG logo and a sleek shark-nose front bumper, radiating an air of elegance.
Years ago, Benz race cars were white, but the factory decided to mimic the appearance of red Italian-brand cars to encourage spectators to move aside as they approached. The PureSpeed will feature the number 10 on its front fenders, honoring the Mercedes that won the 1924 Targa Florio.
The PureSpeed includes a Formula One-inspired Halo, replacing the traditional windshield for enhanced safety. A bracket will connect to the vehicle's body, providing protection at a level comparable to F1 standards.
Mercedes has yet to reveal the specific powertrain details for the PureSpeed, but it is anticipated to adopt the SL63’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine. This could be either the 805-horsepower E Performance version or the 577-horsepower base model. No matter the configuration, it promises to offer unmatched excitement, representing the pinnacle of roadster performance.
Obtaining the PureSpeed will be quite challenging since Mercedes plans to produce only 250 units, exclusively for dedicated Mercedes-Benz collectors and enthusiasts. Although pricing details haven't been released, potential buyers should expect to pay a premium to own this vehicle. Deliveries are set to begin next year.
