Although Volkswagen has stopped the Passat globally, the new Passat Pro was introduced at the 2024 Chengdu Motor Show. It's made by the SAIC-Volkswagen partnership.

The China-only Passat Pro keeps the wagon's front look but adds new rear doors and a sloping roof. The rear has a longer, Audi-style trunk, stretching the sedan's length to 5,006 mm, making it longer than the European version at 4,917 mm.

Inside, the Passat Pro features a digital cockpit with a 15-inch infotainment screen, 10.3-inch instrument cluster, and 11.6-inch passenger display. It includes a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, augmented reality head-up display, and DJI-developed ADAS. The car also has special "cloud feeling" seats with massage, heating, and cooling functions, plus an in-car fragrance system and 30-color ambient lighting.

The Passat Pro currently offers just one engine option: a 2.0-liter TSI found in many Volkswagen Group models. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, it produces 217 hp and 350 Nm of torque. Although no electrified version is available yet, a plug-in hybrid is expected in the future. The Passat Pro is exclusive to China and won't be launched in the UAE.
