Volkswagen has officially announced the production of ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE in its Saxony, Germany, plant, making it an exciting moment for Volkswagen fans to witness an innovative blend of EV performance and nostalgic design. Volkswagen ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE will be manufactured in limited numbers and will be sold as a special edition in the global market. As per the available details, it has been built at the Zwickau vehicle plant and Transparent Factory in Dresden, with production limited to just 1,990 units globally.
There is a reason for producing only 1,990 units of the ID.3 GTX. Volkswagen aims to pay tribute to the Golf II Fire and ICE from the 1990s, a flagship model of its time that became a cult favorite and still enjoys legendary status among automotive enthusiasts. Similar to its predecessor, the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE offers a unique blend of performance, design flair, and exclusivity, making it an ideal model for call collectors.

Volkswagen has collaborated with BONGER FIRE+ICE, the Munich-based luxury sports fashion brand, to develop this limited edition model. Similar to Golf II Fire and Ice, which had the bold styling cues, the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE also brings bold styling design with modern EV taste. The goal of the German-based automobile manufacturer is to make this upcoming electric hatchback not only efficient and powerful but also a suitable option for limited edition car collectors and lifestyle-driven drivers.
Under the hood, the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE features a 210kW electric motor capable of delivering 286 PS. There is also another 240kW motor that churns out 326 PS of power output. Both versions have 545 Nm of maximum torque capacity, ensuring smooth acceleration. The more powerful version of ID.3 GTX can sprint 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and hit the electronically limited top speed of 200 km/h.
While optional in the entry-level version, the standard feature in the top trim is the sports DCC chassis that sharpens handling for those who require a real hot-hatch EV experience. The Volkswagen’s electric hatchback is powered by a 79kWh lithium-ion battery, offering up to 591 km of WLTP range. It also has fast charging capabilities as it can charge 10-80% in around 26 minutes at 185 kW DC fast stations.
Talking about the original model, the production of the ID.3 model began in late 2019, and it has been sold over 350,000 units so far in over 40 countries worldwide. The FIRE+ICE edition further adds a layer to make this car even more performance-focused with a combination of electric powertrain.
