Volvo Cars has revealed its first long-range plug-in hybrid, the all-new Volvo XC70, marking a strong debut in the electrified mobility segment. With the claimed all-electric range of over 200 km under CLTC testing cycle, the Volvo XC70 has become the brand's longest-range plug-in hybrid model to date. It has been designed to offer a perfect balance of performance, comfort, and sustainability for modern families with an active lifestyle.

The all-new XC70 SUV is based on Volvo's Scalable Modular Architecture (SMA) platform and has been particularly developed to strengthen the brand's position in the world's major automobile markets, like China, where the company has already started the pre-orders for the model. While the delivery dates are not confirmed yet, it's expected to start soon. Volvo also plans to bring its Volvo XC70 to Europe at a later stage of launch and then to other markets.

One of the key selling features of the XC70 is its fast-charging capability, allowing it to get charged 0-80% in just 23 minutes. It also supports bi-directional charging, meaning it can double as a power source for outdoor equipment and home appliances. Volvo has claimed that on a single charge and a full fuel tank, its latest plug-in hybrid SUV can deliver over 1,200 km of range, ensuring emission-free commutes with the flexibility of a combustion engine for long-distance journeys.

In terms of design, Volvo has maintained a clean, minimalist Scandinavian design philosophy, which blends bold stance with practical elegance. It has a closed shield-like grille with an active shutter to optimize aerodynamic and cooling. There are also signature C-shaped taillights that integrate seamlessly into the rear glass for a sleek and more modern look.

Inside the cabin is a premium level of comfort and generous space for passengers and luggage. Volvo has used high-quality materials across the interior and provided an intuitive storage solution and an immersive sound system for an enhanced driving experience. The interior design is simple, functional, and calming, designed for comfortable long drives.
For technology features, the all-new Volvo XC70 is equipped with next-generation digital features, including a 15.4-inch horizontal center display with intuitive multi-tapping and a 12.3-inch driver display for clear, real-time information. There is also a 92-inch augmented reality head-up display for a futuristic driving experience. The SUV also comes mated with AI-powered voice assistance, wireless connectivity, and over-the-air updates, ensuring the system is future-proof and offers utmost comfort and convenience to the driver.
Volvo cars are known for their safety features and strong build quality; considering the same approach, the XC70 is packaged with Safe Space Technology. It comprises advanced radars, cameras, and sensors to monitor the surroundings and assist in avoiding collisions. There are additional safety features like door opening alerts to protect cyclists in crowded urban areas, as well as Park, Pilot Assist, automatic lane change, and active navigation support for smooth and safe driving on highways.
