Suzuki Jimny

Key Highlights

-Suzuki has stopped selling the Jimny and Swift Sport in the UK.

  • The Jimny was a small off-road vehicle.

  • The Swift Sport was a performance version of the Swift hatchback.

  • Suzuki will focus on other models that are more popular in the UK.

  • Existing Jimny and Swift Sport owners will still receive support and service.

Updating cars to meet new emission standards is challenging and expensive for automakers. Balancing costs and profitability, Suzuki has stopped producing the Swift Sport, Swace, Ignis, and Jimny in the UK.

Suzuki Swift Sport

The UK government's zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate requires carmakers to boost electric car sales, leading Suzuki to adjust its vehicle lineup.

Suzuki Swace

In the coming months, Suzuki will stop selling the Jimny and Swift Sport in UK showrooms once dealer stocks are depleted. The Jimny, available only as a two-seat commercial vehicle in Europe since 2020, will also be discontinued. Production of the Swace and Ignis will end as well.

These models will make way for a new electric vehicle, likely a small SUV based on the eVX concept, set to debut in late 2025. Suzuki's upcoming eVX will feature a dual-motor AWD setup and a 60 kWh battery, offering up to 550 km on a full charge.

In the UAE, Suzuki currently offers the Swift, Jimny 5-door, Fronx, and Baleno. Unlike in the UK market, Suzuki will continue producing these models in the future.

Verdict

Suzuki is ending the production of several models, including the Jimny and Swift Sport, in the UK due to new emission standards and a shift towards electric vehicles. However, in the UAE, Suzuki will continue to produce and offer models like the Swift and Jimny 5-door.
