  • Black chrome exhaust pipes.
  • Unique diffuser design.
  • Body-colored side skirts.
  • Large alloy wheels (20" front, 21" rear).

The iconic BMW M5 high-performance sedan has been significantly updated for 2025. The 7th-gen M5 now features a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, a major change from its traditional petrol-only versions.

Exterior Design

BMW M5

The M5 stands out from the standard 5 Series with its prominently flared wheel arches and side skirts, giving it a muscular look. The redesigned high-gloss black M kidney grille, featuring a single M double-bar, houses sensors for driver assistance systems.

Below the grille, a central air intake with a black frame (illuminated as standard) provides optimal cooling, while body-colored triangular side air intakes emphasize the car's width.

Other exterior features include:

  • Rear spoiler and diffuser for improved airflow
  • Black chrome exhaust pipes
  • Unique divider design
  • Body-colored side skirts
  • Large alloy wheels:
    • 20 inches (front)
    • 21 inches (rear)

Interior & Technology

BMW M5

The interior of the 2025 BMW M5 combines performance with luxury. The driver enjoys a new M leather steering wheel with customizable buttons and a sporty flat-bottomed design.

Standard seats are both comfortable and supportive, with an exclusive Full Merino Metallic leather option featuring special stitching. M colors are used in the welcome animation and customizable interior lighting.

Other features include:

  • 12.3-inch Curved Infotainment
  • 14.9-inch Curved Display
  • Android Auto & Apple CarPlay
  • Panoramic Sunroof
  • 18-speaker Harman Kardon Audio
  • Head-Up Display
  • Level 2 ADAS

Engine & Transmission

  • Engine: 4.4-litre V8 Twin-Turbo
  • Gearbox: 8-speed M Steptronic
  • Electric Motor: 194hp
  • Battery: 14.8kWh
  • Max Power: 717hp
  • Peak Torque: 1,000Nm
  • 0 to 100kmph: 3.5 seconds
  • Top Speed: 250km/h (Restricted)
  • Top Speed: 305km/h (Un-restricted)
  • Pure-Electric Range: 69KM

Driveability Features

BMW M5

The M5 has a 14.8 kWh high-voltage battery that allows for an electric driving range of up to 69 km. The car also comes with a variety of features that improve handling and performance, such as M xDrive all-wheel drive, an Active M Differential, Adaptive M Suspension, and Integral Active Steering.

The M5 is equipped with standard M Compound brakes or optional M Carbon ceramic brakes. The M Compound brakes feature six-piston fixed calipers at the front and single-piston floating calipers at the rear. The M Carbon ceramic brakes are lighter, providing stronger braking power and better fade resistance.

Weight Dilemma

The M5 weighs a hefty 2,445 kg, a significant increase from the previous generation's 1,892 kg. The main reason for this weight gain is its plug-in hybrid system. Interestingly, the all-electric i5 is lighter at 2,305 kg, even with its large battery.

BMW M5 In The UAE

The 2025 BMW M5 will arrive in the UAE soon, likely priced around AED 500,000. It competes with models like the Mercedes-AMG E63 S, Audi RS5, Porsche Panamera Turbo, and Maserati Quattroporte.

Verdict

The upcoming launch of the 2025 BMW M5 in the UAE promises to bring fierce competition to the high-performance sedan segment. Priced around AED 500,000, it joins the ranks of formidable rivals like the Mercedes-AMG E63 S, Audi RS5, Porsche Panamera Turbo, and Maserati Quattroporte, offering enthusiasts a compelling choice in this competitive market.
