Renault plans to develop a new pickup truck model.
The pickup truck will be based on the successful Duster SUV platform.
This move reflects Renault's strategy to expand its product lineup.
The new pickup truck aims to meet the growing demand for versatile utility vehicles.
Leveraging the popularity of the Duster platform, Renault seeks to capture a broader market share in the automotive industry.
Renault has decided to turn the third-generation Duster into a pickup truck, following in the footsteps of the previous Duster Oroch. Based on the most recent Duster platform, Renault plans to introduce an Oroch replacement that looks like the Niagara concept.
The next pickup from Renault is expected to be versatile and have strong performance on a range of terrains, thanks to its construction on the revised CMF-B platform. It is remarkably capable off-road even though it does not have conventional 4WD. Due to the high demand for these vehicles in that region, the next pick-up truck will initially be introduced in South America.

The Renault Niagara concept serves as an influence for the Duster-based truck. It will feature a tough design that emphasizes an off-road-ready appearance while incorporating numerous components from the regular Duster. The goal of this departure from Duster Oroch's simplicity is to appeal to drivers seeking a dynamic driving experience.
Although exact engine specifications are unknown, it is anticipated that the portfolio will include both gasoline and gasoline-hybrid models. For improved efficiency and performance, certain versions could come with a mildly hybridized gasoline engine that pairs with a front-wheel drive system and an e-axle at the back.
Right-hand drive versions of the Duster-based pickup may be offered to compete in places such as South Africa. By doing this, Nissan and Renault's entry-level trucks will be better positioned to challenge Mahindra's Scorpio X pickup.

By constructing a truck based on the Duster, Nissan, and Renault are making a calculated approach to the pickup market by providing a vehicle that combines off-road capability with practicality. Their entry into foreign markets is intended to upend the competition and provide buyers looking for tough yet useful cars with additional options.
Verdict
Renault's decision to develop a new pickup truck based on the Duster SUV demonstrates the brand's commitment to expanding its product lineup and tapping into the growing demand for versatile utility vehicles. By leveraging the success and popularity of the Duster platform, Renault aims to offer customers a practical yet capable pickup truck option. This strategic move aligns with Renault's efforts to diversify its portfolio and capture a broader market share in the competitive automotive industry.
