Nissan will stop producing the R35 GT-R for the North American market in October after 17 years. To mark this, special Takumi and Skyline Edition models have been released. While Nissan hasn't revealed plans for GT-R production in other markets post-October, it's expected that the GT-R's production may soon end globally.
The Nissan GT-R became renowned for its incredible power outputs, exceeding 1000 horsepower with some modifications. This model attracted significant global attention, showcasing its popularity among car enthusiasts.
The factory-configured GT-R was driven by a robust 3.8-litre V6 twin-turbocharged gasoline engine, producing approximately 570 horsepower. Paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, it was renowned for its smooth power delivery and rapid gear changes, enhancing the overall driving experience.
Nissan stated that while the R35 GT-R has left a lasting legacy, the automaker is now focusing on innovative performance and future advancements. The iconic GT-R may not be directly replaced. In October 2023, Nissan unveiled the Hyper Force electric concept, previewing the next-generation GT-R with an all-electric drivetrain, which may arrive by the end of this decade.
Nissan's decision to cease production of the R35 GT-R marks the end of an era for this iconic model. With special editions commemorating its legacy, Nissan is now turning its focus towards innovative performance and future advancements, as evidenced by the unveiling of the Hyper Force electric concept.
