In partnership with OnePoll, Nissan’s Formula E team conducted a survey where 6,000 young people aged 8 to 16 shared their thoughts on the future of electric mobility. The participants were from Brazil, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the UK, and the US.
Alongside the survey, Nissan released a creative ad campaign on its official channels and Nismo. The campaign, called 'Department of Futures,' features knowledgeable 7- to 10-year-olds visiting Nissan’s Formula E development site and asking insightful questions. The video, which also includes team principal Tommaso Volpe, showcases humorous conversations.

Reflecting a growing awareness for a cleaner future, fifty percent of the respondents said they would prefer electric cars to help save the environment, and 68 percent agreed that addressing climate change is essential and unavoidable.
In the TV commercial, which aims to excite viewers of all ages, children act as guardians of the environment, overseeing pollutants and manufacturing processes to ensure the Nissan Formula E team meets their standards. The ad also highlights Nissan’s Ambition 2030 pledge to launch 27 new electric vehicles by the decade's end.
The survey revealed that while young people are open to large-scale electrification, their understanding of eco-friendly practices is still developing. Only 50 percent knew what 'eco-friendly' means, and just 30 percent considered themselves environmentally conscious.

This showed that before fully implementing electric propulsion, it's essential to educate youth and society about environmental concepts. This will help them understand their actions to conserve resources and protect the environment, making the shift from gasoline cars to electric vehicles quicker and easier.
Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal of the Nissan Formula E Team, stated, "We understand the need to equip the next generation with tools to combat climate change through electric mobility. The survey shows young people's desire to help the environment with their vehicle choices, so we at Nissan Formula E Team must keep developing crucial technologies. The 'Department of Futures' members are knowledgeable about electrification, and our goal is to help them enjoy a greener, better future."

Nissan made history as the first Japanese brand to compete in Season 5 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Since then, the company has continued to participate in Season 7 (2020-21) and Season 9 (2022-23) and will also compete in Season 12 (2025-26). By acquiring the e.dams racing team, Nissan aims to gain extensive experience in the thrilling racing event and strive for victory.
For over a decade, Nissan has been offering affordable and reliable electric vehicles, starting with the Leaf hatchback. Their latest advancement is the Ariya crossover. This experience is expected to enhance their Formula E EVs, leading to the development of new battery platforms and future electric vehicles.
