The Ferrari F80 features a 3.0-liter V6 engine producing 900 hp, combined with a hybrid system for a total output of 1,200 hp.
Incorporates MGU-K and MGU-H systems for energy recovery, enhancing performance and efficiency.
Designed for optimal performance with features like adjustable rear spoilers and NACA ducts for improved airflow and cooling.
It is constructed from carbon fibre and aluminum for lightweight strength, with a multi-material design inspired by Formula 1.
Equipped with 48V electric motors and active inboard dampers for precise vehicle dynamics and control.
The Ferrari F80 represents a major advancement in supercar technology, combining high performance with hybrid tech and a design inspired by Formula 1. It is now the fastest and most powerful road-legal Ferrari, succeeding the LaFerrari.
Ferrari timed the F80's launch right after the McLaren W1 reveal, waiting for Porsche to debut the Mission X to complete the supercar trio. Only 799 units of the F80 will be made, continuing Ferrari's tradition of exclusive high-performance cars like the GTO, F40, and LaFerrari.
The Ferrari F80 features a powerful 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces an impressive 900 hp, marking the highest specific power ever for a Ferrari engine. With the hybrid system, it adds another 300 hp, bringing the total output to 1,200 hp thanks to its electric front axle (e-4WD) and rear motor (MGU-K). This engine is closely related to the powerplant used in Ferrari's 499P, which has won two consecutive 24 Hours of Le Mans races.
The F80 also includes advanced technology from Formula 1, like the MGU-K and MGU-H systems. The MGU-K is an electric motor that captures kinetic energy, while the MGU-H harnesses power from exhaust heat using turbines and an e-turbo system. Additionally, the eManettino allows drivers to choose between three driving modes: Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify.
The Ferrari F80's aerodynamics are carefully crafted for the best performance. Its cooling system, which manages over 200 kW of heat, fits well with the car's shape. Radiators are placed strategically to enhance airflow without hurting aerodynamics.
Features like NACA ducts and built-in winglets help improve airflow and cooling, while the triplane front design effectively manages air. The active aerodynamics system adjusts parts like the rear spoiler to enhance downforce and balance based on driving conditions.
The Ferrari F80’s exterior is groundbreaking, designed by Ferrari’s Styling Centre led by Flavio Manzoni. Its design merges Ferrari's racing history with a forward-looking vision. The car features a dihedral cross-section that creates a strong and aerodynamic shape, and the floating bubble cabin is 50mm lower than that of the LaFerrari, giving the F80 a more aggressive look.
Key design features include:
The interior of the Ferrari F80 is inspired by Formula 1, creating a cockpit that resembles a single-seater race car. The compact design puts the driver at the center, while the passenger seat is seamlessly integrated and almost blends into the trim.
The F80 features an asymmetrical seating arrangement, placing the passenger seat further back. This design creates a narrower and more comfortable cabin while also reducing the car's width at the front. The new steering wheel is smaller and more user-friendly, with physical buttons for easy access.
The Ferrari F80 includes a standard 3-year warranty, with an option to extend coverage through Ferrari's 7-year maintenance plan. This gives owners reassurance for both mechanical and electrical parts, including the hybrid system.
Ferrari did say that all the 799 units of the new F80 have been sold out. Once launched, the F80 is expected to be priced at over AED 14 million. The new Ferrari F80 will primarily go up against the McLaren W1, Lamborghini Temarario, and the upcoming Porsche Mission X.
The Ferrari F80 represents a significant advancement in supercar technology, merging high performance with cutting-edge hybrid systems and Formula 1-inspired design. With its powerful 900 hp V6 engine and advanced aerodynamics, the F80 stands as the most powerful road-legal Ferrari to date.
Its limited production run of just 799 units ensures exclusivity, while features like innovative driving modes and a driver-focused interior highlight Ferrari's commitment to performance and luxury. Overall, the F80 not only honors Ferrari's racing heritage but also paves the way for the future of high-performance vehicles.
