Hyundai has launched the Inster Cross e-SUV, building on the Inster EV revealed a few months ago. This new version is designed for those seeking a rugged and versatile small electric SUV. With the Inster Cross, Hyundai aims to attract customers looking for a stylish yet functional vehicle, especially outdoor lovers. The e-SUV comes with features that improve off-road capability and durability, making it suitable for different terrains.
The Inster electric SUV is based on the Casper and runs on an internal combustion engine (ICE), aimed at the budget-friendly city EV market. Hyundai has extended the Casper's platform by 230mm, adding about 180mm to the wheelbase, which allows for a larger battery and more cabin space. Right now, the Casper is only available with a petrol engine in Korea.
All variants of the Inster feature dual 10.25-inch digital displays for the touchscreen infotainment and instrument panel. It allows smartphone access as a ‘key’ for starting and unlocking the car. The Inster also includes Hyundai's full suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), such as adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree parking camera, and blindspot monitoring, which shows a rear quarter view when using the indicator.
What sets the Inster Cross apart are its rugged bumpers with skid plates, a roof rack, distinctive 17-inch alloy wheels, and an Amazonas Green matte finish, along with special yellow and grey upholstery inside.
The Inster EV comes in two versions: the base model has a front-mounted motor with 96 horsepower, goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.7 seconds, and has a 42 kWh battery that offers about 300 km of range. The more powerful ‘long-range’ version produces 113 horsepower, takes 10.6 seconds to reach 0-100 km/h, and features a 49 kWh battery for around 350 km of range.
Hyundai hasn't released any information on the specifications and pricing for the Inster Cross yet.
The Hyundai Inster Cross e-SUV represents the brand's commitment to offering a rugged and versatile electric vehicle for outdoor enthusiasts and city dwellers alike. With its impressive off-road features, advanced technology, and spacious design derived from the Casper platform, it aims to cater to a diverse range of consumers.
While specific pricing and specifications for the Inster Cross are still pending, the new model enhances Hyundai's lineup and solidifies its presence in the growing electric SUV market.
