Bentley's latest Flying Spur represents a big change in luxury performance sedans. The 2025 model brings in a hybrid engine, replacing the old W12 with a new plug-in hybrid system. Though the W12 is gone, the hybrid V8 looks very promising.
The 2025 Flying Spur no longer uses Crewe's W12 engine, now featuring Bentley’s "Ultra Performance Hybrid" system. This system pairs a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with a 187-hp electric motor, giving a combined 771 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. These supercar-level figures are now appearing in luxury sedans—what a shift from the past.
The Flying Spur hits 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, beating the performance of the previous model. Its hybrid system includes a 25.9-kWh battery that offers up to 47 miles of electric-only range (based on the EU cycle) and a combined range of 515 miles using both the engine and electric power.
Drivers can choose from four battery modes—Pure EV, Electric Boost, Regenerative Braking, and Charge—depending on their needs. In Charge mode, the petrol engine helps recharge the battery, or it can be charged using a Level 2 charger, taking about two hours and 45 minutes for a full recharge.
The Flying Spur keeps the familiar design of its predecessor but brings some key updates. The front now has a new bumper and grille, giving it a bolder look. There are also three new 22-inch wheel designs available for more customization choices.
The interior now features a new diamond quilt pattern on the seats, with 3D diamond leather extending to the doors and pillars. Bentley’s optional Wellness Seating, offering automatic climate and posture adjustments, can now be applied to all four seats.
Tech upgrades include a new digital instrument cluster and an improved center touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with over-the-air updates.
For audio, there’s a standard 10-speaker, 650-watt system, with options to upgrade to a 16-speaker, 1,500-watt Bang & Olufsen system or a 19-speaker, 2,200-watt setup with Active Bass Transducers. Laminated glass reduces cabin noise, making the Flying Spur quieter than before.
The Flying Spur's handling is improved with Bentley's new Active Chassis system, featuring adaptive suspension, all-wheel steering, and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. These are paired with updated ESC software to boost driving dynamics. The car has a weight distribution of 48.3% in the front and 51.7% in the rear, enhancing its handling.
The first version of the Flying Spur to be launched will be the "performance-focused" Speed model, which comes in over 100 exterior colors or can be fully customized. Bentley offers an incredible level of personalization options. Pricing for the 2025 Flying Spur hasn’t been revealed yet, but the previous model starts at AED 850,000 in the region.
2025 Bentley Flying Spur marks a major step forward with its hybrid V8 powertrain, luxurious interior upgrades, and advanced handling features. While maintaining its signature design, Bentley offers impressive customization options and cutting-edge technology, including enhanced infotainment and audio systems. With the introduction of the "performance-focused" Speed model, Bentley continues to blend luxury with high-performance, positioning the Flying Spur as a strong contender in the luxury sedan market, though final pricing remains to be announced.
