Mini has unveiled the 2025 Cooper Convertible, marking the brand's last new-generation petrol-powered car. This launch signals Mini's transition towards an electric future.

The new Mini Cooper Convertible features significant updates, similar to the latest petrol-powered three- and five-door hatchbacks. This cost-effective approach supports Mini's transition to electric vehicles. It is expected to be the brand's last new-generation petrol model before fully switching to electric power by the early 2030s.
The current petrol-powered Mini Cooper Convertible is seen as the second-to-last model in the lineup. It’s expected to be followed by an electric version within 12 to 18 months, based on the electric Cooper produced in China.

The Mini Cooper Convertible features a revamped interior and updated front design, along with improved four- and three-cylinder engines. However, unlike the latest hatchbacks, it will not have the new triangular tail lights, keeping the rounded light shape and tailgate design from the previous model, as Mini couldn’t incorporate the triangular lights.

The updated lights now feature new signatures, and the tailgate has revised badges matching the latest Cooper hatch. The soft-top can be opened or closed electrically in 18 seconds, even at speeds up to 30 km/h, with a sunroof option allowing a 40 cm gap.
The Mini Cooper Convertible comes with 16 to 18-inch wheels, and the JCW Trim styling pack offers black accents and distinctive bumpers. Measuring 1,744 mm in width, 3,879 mm in length, and 1,431 mm in height, the boot capacity is around 215 liters with the roof up, reducing to 160 liters when lowered.

The Mini Cooper Convertible's interior features a simplified center console with toggles and a 9.5-inch circular OLED infotainment touchscreen. There is no separate instrument display, but speed and other details are visible on a head-up display and the infotainment screen. It introduces new "Mini Experience Modes," including a 'Go-Kart' mode with sound effects.
You can choose between JCW sport or standard front seats, and the vehicle also offers wireless phone charging. In select markets, the Convertible comes with a four-cylinder engine, while European models will have a 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder derived from the Cooper C hatch.

The four-cylinder version of the Mini Cooper Convertible generates 120 kW and 250 Nm, reaching 0-100 kmph in 8.2 seconds, with fuel consumption of 6.5-6.6L/100km. The Cooper S variant delivers 150 kW and 300 Nm, taking 6.9 seconds for 0-100 kmph, with the same fuel efficiency.
Details about the JCW performance model haven't been confirmed yet, but it's expected to produce 170 kW and 380 Nm, which is more than the current model's 320 Nm.
The new Mini Convertible comes with advanced safety features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, automatic parking, and a 360-degree camera. There's no information yet about its launch in the UAE.
The 2025 Mini Cooper Convertible represents the brand's final petrol-powered model before its transition to electric vehicles. It features modern updates in design, advanced safety systems, and enhanced engine options, blending classic Mini styling with new technology. Though its electric successor is expected in the coming years, this model marks an important step in Mini's shift towards an electrified future.
