Earlier this year, MG 8 created a Guinness World Record by covering 2,208 km on a single tank and full charge, delivering an average of 2.49l/100km. This notable milestone signifies MG’s technological leadership and commitment to redefining efficiency without compromising performance.

The new MG 8 PHEV has been specifically designed and engineered for the Middle East and is capable of surviving in extreme hot weather and maintaining efficient performance over the years. The Middle East spec model has both GSO (Gulf Standardization Organization) and SASO (Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization) certifications, suggesting the MG 8 is equipped with the necessary safety and quality requirements to provide drivers with a safe driving experience on the roads of the Middle East.

The exterior of MG 8 showcases the brand’s philosophy of elegance and refinement with bold and dynamic edge. It features an aggressive, wide grille, a sharp LED headlight setup, integrated fog lamps, and connected LED taillights, giving MG’s saloon a commanding on-road presence. It boasts 2810 mm of wheelbase, ensuring proper space inside the cabin with a comparable cargo area. The vehicle comes with a streamlined profile, flowing roofline, and carefully sculpted exterior details that add to its modern appeal.

Inside the cabin, the new MG 8 provides a luxury-inspired interior that mirrors an executive, premium lounge. The automaker has used premium leather and provided dual 12.3-inch digital displays, a sunroof, and zero-gravity cloud-sensing seats for maximum comfort and convenience. To further enhance practicality and ride quality, there is extended rear legroom of 933 mm and refined finishes like suede quilting.

Under the hood, there is a 1.5-liter plug-in hybrid engine that makes up 201 hp of power output and 330 Nm of torque. The MG 8 PHEV uses MG’s most advanced DMH Super Hybrid Technology that smartly manages the switch between petrol and electric power. With this smart configuration, the drivers can enjoy excellent pickup, strong power delivery, and smooth long-distance performance. It has five driving modes that automatically adapt to road or driving conditions.

MG has also offered an industry-first 5-in-1 PICU controller to ensure vehicle systems function more efficiently and improve responsiveness while minimizing energy waste. The MG 8 PHEV will be available in two trims in the Middle East, including 1.5L STD, which includes 17-inch alloy wheels, dual digital displays, a 6-speaker audio system, and USB ports for front and rear passengers, auto air conditioning with rear vents, a 6-way adjustable driver seat, a leather steering wheel, and essential safety features. This variant of MG 8 has been priced at $24,900, which is about AED 91,400 in the UAE.

There is a more sophisticated and feature-rich version available, called 1.5L COM. It features 18-inch alloy wheels, curtain airbags, a 360-degree camera, power folding mirrors, a ventilated and memory driver seat, and a four-way electric passenger seat. This top spec trim of MG 8 PHEV is available at a showroom price of $27,400 (approx AED 100,600).
