McLaren has revealed its fastest production hypercar, the McLaren W1, by completing hot weather testing in Arizona. McLaren claimed that in two intense weeks of testing in the Arizona desert, with temperatures rising over 40 degrees Celsius, the McLaren team covered over 5,000 km with two validation prototype vehicles and completed hundreds of hours of wheel time and countless repeat tests.

Vikram Shah, McLaren Vehicle Development Engineer, emphasized the conditions in Arizona as a torture chamber, which means a perfect environment in which to challenge W1’s resilience. He also stated that he would test the brand’s vehicle to its absolute limits. Further, he added that the temperature was extremely harsh, but it was not about just temperature, but vibrations over the curbs, the G-forces, the braking loads, making it a good test to ensure the vehicle can handle these kinds of conditions.
