The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently unveiled the first round of 2025 Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ winners. With its enhanced safety and capable vehicles, Mazda has enjoyed the most Top Safety Pick awards for 2025 IIHS.
Mazda started this first safety award from IIHS with a substantial lead over their top competitors in the market by winning eight Top Safety Pick Plus awards. These eight Top Safety Pick award winner models are the Mazda 3 Hatchback, Mazda 3 Sedan, Mazda CX-30, Mazda CX-50, Mazda CX-70, Mazda CX-70 PHEV, Mazda CX-90, and Mazda CX-90 PHEV.
These Mazda cars underwent IIHS's front and side crash tests to earn these esteemed awards. They were also evaluated for pedestrian front crash prevention assessment to secure standard acceptable or good-rated headlights. With the addition of rear seat belt pre-tensioners and load limiters, the Mazda vehicles also received better safety ratings for rear seat occupants. Every year, IIHS makes the safety rating checks even more challenging for the automakers, including this year's requirement for headlights to secure an acceptable or good rating.
Mazda's dedication to making its vehicles safe and comfortable for passengers has remained a primary aspect of its business model. All tested vehicles from this company secured a top rating of Good by incorporating key features like rear seat belt pre-tensioner, load limiters, and capable vehicle structure to last long.
Besides Mazda, other automakers, including Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Toyota, and Genesis, also received 2025 IIHS awards. In the hatchback segment, the Honda Civic hatchback received the Top Safety Pick+ Award, while the Honda Civic sedan received the Top Safety Pick title.
In the mid-size passenger vehicle segment, the Honda Accord, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and Toyota Camry secured the Top Safety Pick+ award from IISH. Mercedes Benz C-Class for mid-size luxury and Genesis G90 sedan for large-size luxury sedan also performed well in the evaluation process to earn the Top Safety Pick+ and Top Safety Pick award, respectively.
Genesis GV60, Honda HR-V, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Tucson, and Subaru Solterra were awarded the Top Safety Pick+ award in the small SUV segment. The mid-size SUVs, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia EV9, and Kia Telluride, got this prestigious award.
Additionally, the BMW X5, Genesis Electrified GV70, Genesis GV70, Genesis GV80, Lincoln Nautilus, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q7, Infiniti QX80, Rivian R1S, and Toyota Tundra got the Top Safety Pick+ award for the luxury vehicle segment.
