Legend Motors has expanded its UAE SUV portfolio with the introduction of the new Kaiyi X7 AWD and Kaiyi X7 PHEV, marking another milestone in the Chinese automaker's regional growth strategy. The launch, held on Saturday in June 2026, reflects Kaiyi's ambition to position Dubai as a key gateway for its wider Middle East expansion while responding to rising demand for both premium petrol-powered and electrified SUVs.
The latest additions also highlight the increasing presence of Chinese automotive brands across the Gulf, where manufacturers are investing heavily in advanced technology, premium features, and new-energy mobility solutions.
The launch introduces two distinct versions of the Kaiyi X7, allowing customers to choose between a performance-focused all-wheel-drive model and an electrified plug-in hybrid alternative.
The Kaiyi X7 AWD is aimed at drivers seeking stronger performance and enhanced traction, while the Kaiyi X7 PHEV caters to buyers looking for greater efficiency and lower emissions without sacrificing SUV practicality.
The new variants build upon the existing Kaiyi X7 range that first entered the UAE market in 2024/2025 with petrol-only versions priced from approximately AED 78,000 to AED 97,000. The latest additions extend the lineup with higher-performance and electrified options.
Powering the Kaiyi X7 AWD is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 256hp and 390Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel-drive system, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0-100km/h in around 6.9 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Kaiyi X7 PHEV combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, an electric motor, and a lithium battery pack. The plug-in hybrid system delivers an all-electric driving range of up to 150km, making it suitable for daily commuting while retaining the flexibility of a petrol-powered drivetrain for longer journeys.
The simultaneous launch of internal combustion and plug-in hybrid variants reflects Kaiyi's strategy of offering multiple powertrain choices as consumer preferences across the Gulf continue to evolve.
Tony Wu, Deputy General Manager of Kaiyi International, said the introduction of the new models demonstrates the company's commitment to supporting the UAE's transition toward cleaner mobility while continuing to serve customers who prefer conventional petrol-powered vehicles. He noted that the positive market response to the existing E5 and X3 models has encouraged the company to further expand its portfolio in line with Dubai's Vision 2030 direction toward new energy vehicles.
Harsh Chaturvedi, General Manager of Kaiyi UAE, said the brand's philosophy is centered on making advanced automotive technology practical and accessible. According to him, the new SUVs have been developed to deliver greater control, comfort, and modern luxury rather than focusing solely on headline performance figures.
Legend Motors, the automotive division of Dubai-based Legend Holding Group, is continuing to strengthen its long-term presence in the UAE and the wider GCC region.
Alongside introducing new products, the company is investing in after-sales services, improving spare parts availability, and expanding customer support to enhance ownership experiences and build long-term confidence in the Kaiyi brand.
The arrival of the Kaiyi X7 AWD and Kaiyi X7 PHEV comes as Chinese automakers continue gaining momentum across the Gulf with feature-rich SUVs and new-energy vehicles that offer competitive value.
By combining performance-oriented petrol technology with plug-in hybrid capability, Kaiyi is broadening its appeal to a wider customer base while supporting the UAE's growing focus on sustainable mobility. As competition intensifies in the region's SUV segment, the latest X7 models position the brand to capture demand from buyers seeking premium features, advanced technology, and greater powertrain flexibility.
