Honda is recalling over 750,000 vehicles in the US due to a faulty passenger seat airbag sensor.
The recall affects various Honda and Acura models from the 2020 through 2022 model years.
The issue involves the potential failure of the sensor to deactivate the airbag when children or small adults occupy the seat.

According to documents released by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Tuesday, there is a concern that the front passenger seat weight sensor could develop cracks, leading to a short circuit and potential failure to deactivate the airbag as intended. These sensors are crucial for disabling the airbags when children or petite adults occupy the seats. Failure to deactivate the airbags in such scenarios could heighten the risk of injury.
Dealers will conduct the replacement of the seat sensors without any charge to owners. Notifications to owners will commence from March 18 onwards.
According to Honda's documentation, there have been 3,834 warranty claims reported for this issue from June 30, 2020, to January 19, 2022. However, there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities associated with this problem during the same period.
