Great Wall Motor has officially announced that it will launch its first-ever model by the end of 2026. It's a major milestone for GWM as it aims to enter the supercar segment and compete in the global ultra-luxury and high-performance market, going head-to-head with BYD’s flagship Yangwan U8. The first high-performance model by GWM will be introduced in the global market after nearly five years of continuous development under its newly created Ultra Luxury Vehicle Business Group.

The project began in 2021 and has made significant progress in terms of engineering and design processes. If everything goes as planned, the brand will also make a major impact in the supercar segment after achieving a dominating position in the SUVs and pickup segments globally.

Great Wall Motor’s Ultra Luxury Vehicle Business Group is a dedicated division for high-end performance vehicle manufacturing. Company founder Wei Jianjun chairs this business unit, whereas Song Dongxian, the former VP of Technology at GWM, serves as CEO, and Zhang Xiaobo as CTO. In the engineering and innovation team, the company has an expert team of international engineers and designers who work relentlessly to match global supercar benchmarks.
With the creation of a new ultra-luxury division, GWM aims to position itself as a new high-end performance vehicle manufacturer. The trademark filings for Zixin Auto, translated as Confidence Auto, highlight that the brand will directly go head-to-head with BYD’s Yangwang brand.
According to industry reports, GWM’s ultra luxury division will equip its first supercar with a self-developed 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine coupled with an electric motor. This hybrid powertrain setup is expected to produce 1,000 hp of combined power output. Moreover, it will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds and hit a top speed of 350 km/h. It can be benchmarked with the Ferrari SF90 and other European spec supercars in the global market. In terms of pricing, the GWM’s hybrid supercar will be priced around 2 million yuan, making it significantly affordable than the Ferrari SF90.
