Ford aims to use hybrid powertrains for better performance and reduced emissions.
Farley stated there will be no all-electric Mustang, keeping it distinct from the Mustang Mach-E.
In automotive history, the Ford Mustang is one of the most iconic nameplates, earning numerous accolades over the years. Building on the success of its latest version, Ford is now poised to introduce a new range of ICE-powered Mustang variants. Notably, this includes a potential four-door model, marking a significant departure from its traditional lineup for the first time in six decades.
Ford CEO Jim Farley highlighted the Mustang at the Goodwood Members’ Meeting, calling it the world's top-selling coupé and underscoring its global appeal and strong fan base. Farley stated that any new Mustang variants must maintain the attitude and performance of current models. He hinted at the possibility of new body styles, including a four-door version, as long as they preserve the Mustang's essence.

Ford is also planning to introduce a hybrid-powered Mustang, with Farley recognizing the significant potential in semi-electrification for reducing carbon emissions and boosting performance. He believes that hybrid powertrains can offer Mustang enthusiasts enhanced performance benefits while also meeting sustainability objectives.
Farley clearly stated that Ford has no plans to develop an all-electric Mustang, underscoring its distinct identity from the Mustang Mach-E models. He emphasized that electric power does not align with the Mustang's character. While recognizing the strengths of electric cars in other contexts, Farley insisted they are not suitable for the Mustang brand.
Ford is expanding the Mustang lineup with new ICE-powered variants, including a potential four-door model while exploring hybrid options to enhance performance and reduce emissions. However, Ford remains committed to preserving the Mustang's traditional identity, firmly rejecting the development of an all-electric Mustang. This approach aims to balance innovation with the iconic qualities that have defined the Mustang for decades.
