Supports fast charging up to 170 kW.
Ford intends to bring back the Capri nameplate with the introduction of a new electric SUV. This reimagined model will shift away from the classic two-door design of its predecessor, adopting a sportier SUV style instead.

In collaboration with Volkswagen, Ford will revive the Capri using the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform, which is also used by electric vehicles like the Skoda Enyaq iV, the Volkswagen ID series, and the Audi Q4 e-tron. The upcoming Ford Explorer electric SUV will also be built on this platform.
The technical specifications of the reimagined Ford Capri are anticipated to align with those of the Ford Explorer EV. It is likely to offer three powertrain options, with outputs ranging from about 170 hp to 340 hp. The vehicle will feature either a 77 kWh or a 52 kWh battery pack, delivering a maximum range of approximately 600 km. Charging capabilities will support speeds of up to 170 kW.
To enhance aerodynamic efficiency, the reinvented Capri will feature a different exterior design from the classic models of the 70s and 80s. Nevertheless, Ford will honor the iconic Capri by incorporating some elements from the original, such as quad circular headlights redesigned as LED running lights.

Ford has not yet revealed the pricing details for the new Capri, but it is anticipated that its starting price will be slightly higher than that of the Explorer. The original Capri was known for its desirability and affordability, and it will be interesting to see if the revived model can capture the same appeal as its predecessor.
The revival of the Ford Capri as an electric SUV marks an exciting development in Ford's lineup, blending modern technology with nostalgic elements. Leveraging the MEB platform through its partnership with Volkswagen, the new Capri will offer competitive powertrain options and impressive range capabilities. While it will feature a contemporary exterior design for better aerodynamics, it will still pay homage to its iconic roots. Although pricing details are yet to be disclosed, the anticipation is high to see if the new Capri can live up to the legacy of its beloved predecessor.
