The highly anticipated eighth-generation Dodge Charger, set to replace both the four-door Charger and two-door Challenger, is coming soon. Dodge has also teased a special Charger Pursuit variant for law enforcement.
The Instagram teaser for the upcoming Charger Pursuit revealed only a few design details, hinting that it could be an electric model. There's also a chance it might come with a straight-six engine option for police use.
The Pursuit model will be built on the four-door Charger instead of the coupe. It will feature a distinctive black and white paint job and have a light bar mounted on the roof. Earlier Pursuit versions included steel wheels, stronger brakes, vinyl-covered back seats, and specialized seats for police use.

Dodge isn't making major mechanical changes for the new Charger Pursuit. The electric version will offer 456 horsepower in the R/T model and up to 590 horsepower in the Scat Pack model, with options for additional power upgrades. For police departments, the gas-powered version will likely be preferred, featuring a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Hurricane six-cylinder engine that produces either 420 or 550 horsepower, depending on the chosen model. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the wheels.
The new Charger Pursuit is set to strengthen Dodge's dominance in the police vehicle market. With its strong performance and advanced features, it aims to continue the success of previous models, providing law enforcement agencies with a powerful and dependable fleet option.
The upcoming Dodge Charger Pursuit is poised to set a new standard in police vehicles, combining high performance with advanced features. It is expected to uphold Dodge's legacy of delivering reliable and powerful options for law enforcement, ensuring that the new generation remains a top choice for police fleets.
