The Khaleej Times Desert Drive 2024 lived up to expectations, with hundreds of off-road enthusiasts gathering on December 14th to tackle the beautiful dunes of Ras Al Khaimah. Now in its 6th edition, this iconic event united thrill-seekers, families, and car lovers for a day of adventure, camaraderie, and unforgettable experiences.
The UAE's leading car marketplace and official media partner for the event, Carbike360, added a special touch to the day by offering complimentary snacks and beverages to all participants. The Carbike360 team interacted with drivers, providing exclusive giveaways and discounts for private car listings, highlighting their platform's dedication to connecting car enthusiasts with their dream vehicles.

The day kicked off early at The Dunes Camping & Safari, with participants arriving at 6:00 AM. As the sun rose over the scenic desert, drivers enjoyed a hearty breakfast while registering and collecting their event stickers. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as participants deflated their tires, adjusted their suspensions, and readied themselves for a day filled with off-road challenges.
A drivers' briefing took place at 8:30 AM, covering safety protocols and outlining the day’s route. Then, at 9:30 AM, the highly anticipated flag-off signaled the start of an epic 105-kilometre desert drive, challenging both drivers and their vehicles.
The event featured a wide range of 4WD vehicles, creating a stunning convoy. From compact three-door SUVs to large pickups, the diverse lineup showcased the UAE’s vibrant off-road culture. Vehicles ranged from stock SUVs to fully modified dune bashers.
Notable cars included the Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol, Ford F-150 Raptor, RAM TRX, Jeep Wrangler, Chevrolet Silverado, and Toyota 4Runner. Lead sponsor Riddara, the UAE’s newest electric pickup manufacturer, displayed its RD6 EV trucks, some of which served as Marshal cars.

Led by seasoned off-road marshals from Dubai Offroaders, participants navigated a pre-arranged route mapped out on the Tracky app. The journey took adventurers through four clearly marked checkpoints, each situated in Ras Al Khaimah's rugged terrain:
The route provided a diverse mix of challenging and picturesque desert landscapes. Drivers navigated through soft sand, hard sand, fesh-fesh, rutted climbs, steep dune descents, washboard surfaces, and articulation obstacles, all of which tested both driving skills and vehicle performance.

After completing the demanding 105-kilometre route, drivers and passengers gathered at the basecamp, The Dunes Camping & Safari, to unwind and enjoy the evening. The post-drive celebration included engaging quizzes, a delicious dinner, and traditional desert entertainment such as Tanoura dance and fire performances.
