At The Xide Of Delight Launch Event, BAIC Unveils The BJ60 SUV

Another brand-new Chinese off-road vehicle has arrived in town—move over, Wrangler! The BJ60 mid-size SUV was introduced by BAIC at an outdoor launch event at Kempinski The Palm on Friday, December 15.

The BJ40 and BJ80 SUVs are part of the extensive BAIC SUV lineup, which now includes the BJ60 SUV. With its body-on-frame chassis and tough, angular exterior, the SUV is sure to turn heads among off-road enthusiasts as it sits atop stylish 265-section tires.

The interior, however, is extremely opulent and features a 12.8-inch central display, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, and leather seats with a massage function.

The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that powers the BJ60 produces just over 250 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, which will come in handy offroad. The BJ40's high-riding chassis, which has independent suspension at each of its four corners, allows it to wade a remarkable 750 mm. The motor is mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.

Excellent off-road performance is claimed for the BJ60 thanks to its exceptional off-road-specific features, which include three differential locks, a one-to-twelve-grade crawl control system, and a part-time four-wheel drive. High levels of driving comfort are allegedly provided by features like the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and the soundproof, well-insulated cabin.
