The Junior SUV, while sharing its platform with the Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600e, distinguishes itself through its unique and captivating design. Sporting a more athletic stance, adorned with ornate four-spoke wheels and a distinctive grille treatment, it exudes a sense of sportiness. The Alfa Romeo emblem, presented against a mesh pattern grille, adds to its visual appeal. Additionally, for those preferring a more classic aesthetic, an alternative design option is available, showcasing the traditional Alfa Romeo script and updated "telephone dial" wheels.
Alfa Romeo has meticulously designed the interior of the Junior SUV to strike a balance between sophistication and sportiness. The sporty steering wheel and the innovative gauge cluster housing, featuring a "telescope" design and a 10.3-inch display, contribute to a dynamic and driver-centric atmosphere. Moreover, the centrally positioned 10.3-inch touchscreen is angled towards the driver for improved accessibility, while the outer air conditioning vents are shaped in the likeness of the brand's Quadrifoglio badge, paying homage to Alfa Romeo's racing legacy.
The Junior SUV presents a variety of powertrain choices to suit diverse preferences. Its electric variant, named the Junior Elettrica, features a single electric motor paired with a 54.0-kWh battery. Offered in two configurations with 154 or 237 horsepower outputs, both models are front-wheel drive. The 154-hp version boasts an estimated range of around 250 miles on the WLTP test cycle in Europe. Alfa Romeo underscores the Junior Elettrica's rapid-charging capability, as a 100-kW DC fast-charger can replenish the battery from 10 to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes.
Alfa Romeo provides a hybrid alternative with the Junior Ibrida for customers interested in hybrid options. This version combines a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with a 28-hp electric motor integrated into the six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. A 48-volt lithium-ion battery powers the hybrid system, resulting in a combined output of 134 horsepower. Alfa Romeo asserts that the Junior Ibrida operates in electric mode for over 50 percent of urban driving, improving efficiency and lowering emissions.
Alfa Romeo offers the Veloce trim level for driving enthusiasts seeking a sportier experience with the Junior SUV. This variant sits 1.0 inches lower than the standard model and incorporates modified front and rear anti-roll bars for enhanced agility. It also includes larger 15-inch front brake discs with four-piston calipers concealed behind 20-inch wheels. Additionally, a mechanical self-locking Torsen differential improves performance and traction by efficiently distributing torque.
Alfa Romeo Junior SUV represents the brand's bold foray into the electric vehicle market, showcasing a blend of style, performance, and sustainability. With its distinctive design, advanced technology, and range of powertrain options, the Junior SUV aims to cater to a diverse range of customers while staying true to Alfa Romeo's legacy of passion for driving.
