Xiaomi SU7 Ultra sets a new performance benchmark by accomplishing a new lap record at the Shanghai International Circuit. The Xiaomi EV boasts 1,526 horsepower and has recently outperformed the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT's lap record.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT set a track record of 2:11.8, which has now been surpassed by the new Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, achieving a time of 2:09.94. While the Taycan Turbo GT has a top speed of 180 mph, the SU7 Ultra boasts a top speed of 201 mph.
Both Porsche Taycan GT and Xiaomi SU7 are two renowned high-performance electric cars. However, Porsche has a good reputation for its brand legacy, incredible high-performance supercars, and unmatched craftsmanship; Xiaomi has become popular for innovative high-end electric cars at very competitive prices.
Talking about performance, the SU7 Ultra surpassed the Taycan Turbo GT's Nürburgring lap time by 20 seconds. Moreover, the pre-production model lacking an interior secured the track lap time of 6:46.87.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo can deliver 1,092 horsepower and a peak torque of 1240 Nm. In comparison, the Xiaomi SU7 gets 435 horsepower, giving it an edge in delivering better performance and quickly overcoming minor driving errors. Interestingly, Taycan TurboGT was piloted by a professional race driver, Lars Kern, while Xiaomi considered its in-house engineer.
Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has a tri-motor powertrain that can produce up to 1526 horsepower and 1,770 Nm torque. The EV maker offers two powertrain options, HyperEngine V8s and HyperEngine V6s, along with a 101 kWh battery pack.
The Xiaomi SU7 can sprint 0-80 mph in 1.8 seconds, while the Porsche Taycan can in 2.1 seconds. Also, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra starts at $112,000, almost half of the Tayca GT, available at the base price of $230,000.
