Commitment to the premium EV segment, despite adjusting electrification goals.
Volvo is set to release the EX60, a mid-size electric SUV, in 2026. It's the first of five new electric models and will be built on the advanced SPA3 platform, using Volvo's Superset tech stack to create a variety of vehicle sizes, from smaller than the EX30 to larger than the EX90.

Though Volvo has postponed its EV sales target to 2030, it remains dedicated to an electric future. Currently, it offers five EVs, including the EX90 and EX40, and plans to launch five more, including the new EX60.

The new Volvo SUV will use advanced mega-casting technology on the SPA3 platform. This method creates large vehicle parts as a single piece, improving strength and simplifying production by eliminating the need to assemble multiple smaller parts. The SPA3’s flexible design also helps lower production costs by making the assembly process more efficient.

Volvo's upcoming EX60 SUV and ES90 electric sedan will help the brand reach different markets. Despite revising its electrification plans, Volvo stays focused on leading the premium EV market with advanced technology and improved driving experiences.
Volvo's introduction of the EX60 and continued focus on electric vehicles, despite adjusting its goals, highlights its commitment to the premium EV market. By leveraging advanced technologies like the SPA3 platform and mega-casting, Volvo aims to remain at the forefront of innovation, driving efficiency and offering a diverse range of electric vehicles to meet various customer needs.
