Toyota is developing a new rugged SUV, likely named the 'FJ Cruiser,' according to reports. Expected to start production in November 2024, it will first be sold in Thailand before being launched in other global markets.
The new Toyota SUV is expected to feature a boxy design with chunky wheel arches for a rugged look. It will be 1,850 mm tall, 1,830 mm wide, and 4,500 mm long, making it slightly smaller than the Fortuner. It will share a 2,750 mm wheelbase with the Innova Crysta and Fortuner.

Though Toyota hasn't shared many details about the upcoming SUV, it's expected to come with multiple powertrain options. The IMV 0 platform can easily accommodate diesel engines ranging from 2.4 to 2.8 liters and a 2.7-liter petrol engine.
While the UAE needs a budget-friendly Toyota rugged SUV below the Fortuner, it's unclear if the new FJ Cruiser will be available there. As the global debut nears, more details are expected, keeping UAE SUV fans eagerly waiting for updates.
Toyota's upcoming rugged SUV, potentially named the FJ Cruiser, promises a versatile and robust design with multiple powertrain options. While it is set to debut in Thailand and expand to global markets, its availability in the UAE remains uncertain. As more details emerge, anticipation grows among SUV enthusiasts in the region.
