Tesla launched an updated version of Model Y, the Tesla Model Y Juniper, in China on January 10, 2025, followed by a UK, US, and Mexico launch in March this year. However, a few months after the official launch, the American electric car manufacturer issued its first recall for its Model Y Juniper.

According to sources, the issue in the first recall of Model Y Juniper is a plastic elbow that has a role in routing the windshield wiper fluid onto the windscreen. To fix this issue, Tesla must recall the model and make some physical tweaks, unlike other cases when the EV maker fixes the issues with software updates.
While the issue might not be considered a big problem, like the failing of the transmission box or the locking of the steering wheel on the drive, it should also not be undermined. If the issue continues, it may cause safety hazards by obstructing the driver's vision through the windshield.
Tesla announced that it had identified this flow on its own in mid-April this year. The designated technicians observed the issue when testing the newly manufactured Model Y on April 18. The next Monday, Tesla examined other Model Ys for the same issue. In the process, Tesla also reached out to suppliers in Malaysia.

In talks with suppliers, the American electric vehicle manufacturer confirmed that the problem is caused by the failure to revalidate their tools after a repair. The reports further reveal that the automaker tested the vehicle with one wiper nozzle instead of two to get more clarity and insights. The result led to the recall of models that were affected by the same issue.
According to an official statement, 172 units of Tesla Model Y Juniper are affected. The problem is expected to be solved by replacing the defective parts with new and functional ones. As of now, the brand hasn't reported any casualties driven by dirty windshields.
While the Model Y Juniper is unavailable in the UAE, Tesla sells its flagship Model Y, the standard version, in the country. Besides the Tesla Model Y, the UAE customers also have Model 3, Model S, and Model X.
