
The Audi A5L lengthened four-door sedan from Audi’s joint venture with SAIC revealed the core specs in China with the 5-gen EA888 engine. The luxury sedan is anticipated to make a market debut in mid-2025 in China to replace the existing Audi A4L. It reportedly said that the wheelbase of the A5L is 2mm shorter than one of the Audi A6 C8 available in the market.

Audi A5L was first showcased at Guangzhou Auto Show 2024 in November last year. The pre-production unit was set to launch in Mid-2025. On February 19, the SAIC-Audi joint venture applied for the sales license for its mass-produced Audi A5L.
The China-specific Audi A5L sedan features a sleek outline with a long-curved bonnet, slanted roofline, and low beltline. The sedan gets a wide body all because of its sculpted fenders. A5L offers an LED taillight unit with a ducktail spoiler on the rear. The Chinese variant A5 has a conventional trunk lid rather than a sportback tailgate available in global variants.

The front end of the upcoming A5L from SAIC gets a distinguishing design language with a large grille and sharp LED headlights, giving it a recognizable look. Moreover, it has electric door handles and is available in three front and rear bumper trims. The Audi A5L measures 4903 in length, 1883 in width, and 1427 mm in height, while the wheelbase for this China spec Audi A5 is 2922 mm. Considerably, it is 74 mm longer, 23 mm wider, and 17 mm lower than its global variants. The SAIC-built Audi sedan can be offered in 18,19, and 20-inch alloy wheels. It can also feature departure angles of 13 and 14 degrees. The A5L sedan will be available in FWD and AWD options with the curb weight of 1810 kg and 1875 kg respectively.
Audi A5L will get power from a DXD 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine built by SAIC-Volkswagen Power Battery. Its fifth-generation EA888 engine with a horsepower of 201 hp and features a 48V belt starter generator. The front-wheel drive variant of the Audi A5L will boast a top speed of 240 km/h, while the AWD variant can go up to 238 km/h.
