Rolls-Royce has introduced its inaugural all-electric vehicle, the Spectre, in the Indian market. With a jaw-dropping ex-showroom price of ₹7.5 crore, excluding additional options, the Spectre now holds the title as the most expensive electric vehicle for private buyers in the country.

Equipped with a significant 102kWh battery pack, the Spectre delivers an impressive 530km range on the WLTP cycle. Charging the vehicle from 10-80 per cent can be accomplished in a swift 34 minutes with a 195kW charger, and a 50kW DC charger will take 95 minutes.

Propelled by two electric motors—one on each axle—the Spectre generates a combined output of 585hp and a robust 900Nm of torque. Despite its substantial weight of 2,890kg, the Spectre, as per the brand's assertion, can accelerate from 0 to 100 in just 4.5 seconds, highlighting the remarkable power of this luxurious electric vehicle.

Constructed on the aluminium spaceframe architecture termed the "Architecture of Luxury," Rolls-Royce has developed the Spectre. Originally conceived with electrification in 2003, this platform is the foundation for other Rolls-Royce models such as the Phantom, Cullinan, and Ghost. The Spectre is asserted to be 30 per cent more rigid than any preceding Rolls-Royce, incorporating active suspension and four-wheel steering to elevate the driving experience.

In its design, the Spectre preserves the iconic Rolls-Royce silhouette characterized by a lengthy bonnet and a fastback tail, drawing inspiration from contemporary yacht concepts. With dimensions of 5,475mm in length and 2,017mm in width, the front grille, the widest ever seen on a Rolls-Royce, is crafted for aerodynamic efficiency. This is complemented by 23-inch wheels optimized for aerodynamics, marking the largest ever fitted to a two-door Rolls-Royce coupe.

Within the Spectre, luxury persists with the inclusion of a starlight liner, now extending to the door pads alongside the roof. The passenger side dashboard panel is adorned with the illuminated 'Spectre' nameplate, surrounded by more than 5,500 star-like illuminations. The interior underscores Rolls-Royce's dedication to personalization, providing customers with limitless choices for wood panelling, stitching, embroidery, and intricate piping.

A significant inclusion is the debut of Rolls-Royce's latest software platform, named 'Spirit.' Responsible for managing all car functions and offering connected car technology, Spirit comes with bespoke services from Rolls-Royce. This allows for customization, extending to details like the colour of the dials to harmonize with the interior.

Verdict

Rolls-Royce Spectre stands out not only for its powerful performance and elegant design but also for its luxurious interior enhancements. The incorporation of the advanced software platform 'Spirit' adds a technological edge, while the bespoke services allow for unparalleled customization, showcasing Rolls-Royce's commitment to delivering a truly unique and opulent driving experience.
