Nissan, the Japanese automotive company, has introduced the next-generation e-POWER system, a breakthrough in hybrid driving that offers EV-like performance without requiring plug-in charging. From nearly a decade of innovation, Nissan's latest version of e-POWER technology guarantees lower fuel consumption, emissions, and a smoother ride experience.

The e-POWER technology uses a petrol engine only to produce electricity, which is later supplied director to an electric motor for powering the wheels. As a result, the driver experiences a unique electric drive feel with instant torque, silent operation, and seamless acceleration, all without requiring to plug in the model for battery charging.
To take the cutting-edge hybrid drivetrain system, Nissan's 2025 e-POWER technology is completely re-engineered so that it can benefit from best-in-class efficiency and refinement. It also does not need complex gearboxes or engine-to-wheel coupling that further adds to smooth and relaxed driving, similar to all-electric vehicles.

At the heart of the new e-POWER, Nissan has configured a 5-in-1 modular powertrain unit, comprising an electric motor, a generator, an inverter, a reducer, and an increaser. The complete system is compact and lightweight, ensuring optimized performance by eliminating energy losses. In real-world driving conditions, the e-POWER is proven for an exceptionally refined and quiet drive, particularly in urban settings.

The new system also utilizes a regenerative braking system to retain kinetic energy during deceleration, converting electric charge for the battery. It also has extended service intervals between 15,000 km to 20,000 km and better fuel economy, lowering total cost of ownership and making it a valuable investment for long-term driving requirements.
2025 Nissan Qashqai, manufactured in Nissan's Sunderland plant in the UK, will be the first model to have e-POWER technology. The model is confirmed for European release in September 2025 and will also be equipped with improvised ProPILOT driver assistance, featuring updated autonomous lane control and 360-degree traffic awareness.
While the model is not confirmed for the UAE, it is expected that Nissan can possibly launch a new range of electrified lineup with e-POWER in the coming years, as the UAE automobile market has huge potential for electric vehicles.
