Cayenne's twin-turbo V8 will receive efficiency upgrades to comply with future regulations.
The Cayenne’s platform is similar to those used by models like the Bentley Bentayga and Audi Q7.
Porsche has announced that the fourth-generation Cayenne will come only with an electric drivetrain. But if you prefer traditional engines, the current model will be available with updates until at least 2030.
The new model is set to launch around the middle of the decade. It will use an advanced version of Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, which is also used for the Audi Q6 e-tron, Porsche Macan EV, and Audi A6 e-tron.

Porsche is making sure its twin-turbo V8 engine meets future regulations. The SUV will be available worldwide with three powertrain choices until 2030. New rules will phase out the current Macan in Europe by 2026, and the new Cayenne is expected to debut around 2025. This means both the old model and the new Cayenne might be sold together for a few more years. Porsche may adjust trim levels to help tell them apart.
The new Cayenne prototypes will undergo extensive global testing after a period of digital development. The current Cayenne, updated in 2023, will continue production until 2030, and its twin-turbo V8 engine will be improved for better efficiency to meet future regulations. The petrol V8 in the Panamera and Cayenne will be upgraded to meet Euro 7 emissions standards, even without a plug-in hybrid option.
