The Nissan Kicks, a standout subcompact crossover in the UAE, undergoes more than just a mid-life facelift. It receives a substantial transformation, featuring refreshed styling, contemporary technology, and for the first time in its lineup, the option for All-Wheel Drive (AWD).

Compared to its predecessor, the new Kicks boasts a more dynamic appearance, showcasing fresh alloy wheel designs, a bold gloss-black grille extending to rectangular LED lights, heightened ground clearance, and dual-tone color options available on the top-spec SR trim.
The new Kicks displays increased dimensions, appearing longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor, particularly noticeable from the side profile. Enhanced SUV-like features include larger wheel arches and a rising shoulder line near the C-pillar. The boomerang-styled tail lights add a touch of flair to the otherwise clean and straightforward rear design.

The interior of the new Kicks presents a compelling narrative of transformation. Departing from the outdated and simplistic design of its predecessor, it now features a rich blend of colors, premium materials, and a modern layout. The optional dual 12.3-inch display screens, replacing the standard 7-inch screens, add a touch of sophistication. Despite being an entry-level model, it retains some physical buttons, notably beneath the central AC vents.
The new Kicks features capacitive buttons instead of physical switches, offering a modern touch. The multi-function steering wheel, though in line with Nissan's latest designs, may appear slightly oversized in visuals. The optional ProPilot package includes advanced driver assistance features, particularly beneficial on well-marked roads in the UAE. In the SR trim, red stitching accents adorn the dash border, door armrests, and seats.
To distinguish this variant from the lower ones, it includes body-color accents around the gear lever area. The new Kicks is expected to come equipped with numerous features, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a reverse parking camera with adaptive guidelines, automatic climate control, and optional extras like a panoramic sunroof and a 10-speaker Bose sound system.

The car undergoes significant changes under the hood, with the previous 1.6-liter engine being replaced by a larger 2.0-liter gasoline engine from the Sentra sedan. This upgrade boosts power from 118 hp to 141 hp.
While still paired with a CVT, the new Kicks can now be equipped with an optional AWD system, allowing power to be distributed between the front and rear axles for improved grip and stability. Although not intended for off-roading, the increased ground clearance may make traversing mild trails easier.

The current model has been a reliable choice in the UAE, receiving updates to maintain its appeal. The upcoming new model builds on this by addressing previous shortcomings, like its crossover appearance and outdated cabin. When it arrives in the Middle East, it's poised to challenge competitors like the Mitsubishi ASX, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Mazda CX-30.
The 2025 Nissan Kicks marks a significant evolution for the popular sub-compact crossover, offering a refreshed design, modern technology upgrades, and the option for All-Wheel Drive (AWD). With its enhanced features and potential to compete strongly in the market, it promises to be a compelling choice for drivers in the UAE and beyond.
