Collaboration with Formula E marks significant EV advancement.
Nissan has reaffirmed its commitment to Formula E, extending its participation in the electric racing series until at least 2030. This marks the longest duration of Nissan's involvement in any FIA-sanctioned racing series.
Nissan was the initial team to confirm participation in Season 13 (2026-2027) of Formula E, collaborating extensively with Porsche on the development of the Gen4 race car. However, Nissan has not yet extended its commitment to Formula E beyond Season 12. Similar to previous models, the Gen4 car will feature standardized components shared by all teams, but it will offer flexibility for individual tuning in terms of powertrain.
The upcoming Gen4 Formula E car will boast increased power and advanced safety features, targeting a regeneration capacity of 938 hp and a power output of 804 hp. For Nissan, Formula E serves as a crucial platform for advancing electric vehicle technology.

Nissan's dedication to Formula E aligns with its "Ambition 2030" electrification strategy, aiming to transition into a fully-fledged EV manufacturer. As part of this strategy, Nissan plans to introduce 34 electric models between 2024 and 2030, aiming for electric vehicles to constitute 60% of its global sales by the end of the decade.
At the 2024 New York auto show, Ponz Pandikuthira, Senior VP of Nissan North America, stated that Formula E involvement would aid in the development of the next-generation GT-R's powertrain, although Nissan has yet to decide on the powertrain. Collaborating with Formula E and FIA, aligned with shared electrification goals, represents a significant step forward in electric motorsport for Nissan.
Nissan's commitment to Formula E until at least 2030 signifies its dedication to electric racing and the advancement of electric vehicle technology. This partnership not only contributes to the development of high-performance electric powertrains but also aligns with Nissan's broader electrification strategy. With Formula E serving as a platform for innovation and collaboration, Nissan aims to drive forward the future of electric mobility while making strides in the world of motorsport.
