Jeep has officially unwrapped a new-generation Compass SUV. The third generation of Jeep Compass has not only undergone technological upgrades but also features new design proportions and powertrain options. The new Compass will now be available in plug-in hybrid and electric alternatives alongside their petrol and diesel engine options.

The new generation Compass is based on Stellantis Group’s STLA Medium architecture, which is optimized to feature various types of powertrains on the same platform. The exterior design of this flagship SUV has been updated, where it borrows cues from the smaller Avenger and larger Grand Cherokee. The model features an iconic seven-slot grille, trapezoidal wheel arches, and rugged cladding. The bumpers are said to be reinforced with a radar system to avoid vehicle damage in narrow spaces or when driving in off-road conditions.
According to the company, the 2026 Jeep Compass is now more off-road capable, while the European version has ground clearance of 200 mm, an approach angle of 20 degrees, and breakover angle of 15 degrees, and a departure angle of 26-degree. It also has a water-wading depth of 470 mm and comes mated with a Select-terrain feature that adapts the suspension based on drive requirements.
Jeep has also upgraded the suspension setup with new springs, dampers, and an anti-roll bar, offering a good balance between comfort and handling. The AWD version will be even more capable of off-road requirements as it will have more functional bumpers that allow 27 degrees of approach angle, 16 degrees of break-over, 31 degrees of departure angle, and improved ground clearance and water wading. The model will also come with hill descent control as standard in all AWD variants.

The updated version of the Jeep Compass now offers 55 mm of additional legroom, 34 liters of front interior storage, and 45 liters of additional space, taking it up to 550 liters. The cabin packs a 5-seating configuration with a 40:20:40 split for the second row. A new dashboard layout has an updated 10-inch digital instrument console and a 16-inch infotainment screen configured for over-the-air updates.
The Compass SUV also receives a Level 2 ADAS safety suite that comprises electronic aids, a head-up display, semi-automatic lane change, Matrix LED lighting, and mobile phone access.
The Jeep Compass SUV will also sport a plug-in hybrid, three electric versions, ns, and existing petrol and diesel powertrain options. The PHEV variant will produce 192 bhp, while a mild-hybrid version with 48-volt architecture will produce 143 bhp. The electric version of Compass will produce 210 bhp in the base FWD variant, while the top-spec variant will produce 370 bhp and come mated with the AWD system. The latter will feature a dual-motor setup with a rear motor producing an additional 66 bhp and a peak torque of 323 Nm.
The Jeep Compass Electric will offer a maximum range of 650 km on a single charge and be chargeable 20%-80% in 30 minutes using a 160kW DC fast charger. The electric Jeep will have an active grille shutter placed into the front bumper, air ducts on front and rear wheels, sharp rear edges, and a flat underbody design.
