In collaboration with Gargash Motors, Chinese automobile manufacturer GAC has launched the 2026 GAC GS8 Hybrid, ICE, and GS8 Traveller SUVs. The launch of these flagship GAC SUVs took place at Dubai Autodrome. Let’s explore some key specifications and powertrain details of the 2026 GAC GS8.

The new GAC GS8 feels practical and spacious with a bold and upright exterior design. In the front, it has a large rectangular grill with a mesh pattern, vertical LED headlamps, and a slim LED light strip that connects both headlamps above the grille. The boxy design profile of the vehicle extends to its side profile, where 20-inch alloy wheels further enhance its overall boxy design.

On the rear, the SUV sports an almost vertical window and vertical taillight setup to match the vehicle’s front profile. In the Traveller edition, the automaker has offered a few additional features like a tailgate-mounted storage box and an integrated spoiler.

Across the exterior, a chrome finish outline can be seen, particularly around windows and grille edges. The new version of the GS8 SUV measures 5,015mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, 1,780 mm in height, and 2,920 mm in wheelbase. The ground clearance of the GAC GS8 petrol variant is 200 mm, while the hybrid variant offers 190 mm of ground clearance. Both variants have 450 liters of boot space, while the fuel tank capacity in the petrol and hybrid variants is 65 liters and 58 liters, respectively.
GAC has focused on elevating comfort and practicality, visible through its spacious layout with a three-row seating setup. The GAC GS8 SUV is available in up to seven-seat configurations with a bench seat option, while six seats in a second-row captain seat configuration. High-quality materials like soft-touch leather add a premium feel. The interior is further enhanced with 32-color LED ambient lighting to create a customized atmosphere for varied drive moods.

The SUV also gets a panoramic sunroof and heated and ventilated passenger seats. For technology and connectivity features, the GAC GS8 comes with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, 14.6-inch infotainment, 30-inch HUD, tri-zone climate control, 8-speaker Alpine premium sound system, 360-degree camera, and tire pressure monitoring system. The 2026 GAC GS8 has 11 airbags, automatic parking assist, and Level 2 ADAS safety features.
Two engine options are available in the GS8, including a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and AWD system. This engine setup produces 248 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque and sprints 0-100 km/h in 10.5 seconds with a 200 km/h top speed.
In contrast, a hybrid option is also offered that includes a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine with a 1.6 kWh battery pack and two electric motors, delivering a combined power output of 233 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque. The GAC GS8 Hybrid can accelerate 0-100 km/h in 9.8 seconds and obtain a top speed of 190 km/h. This engine setup is paired with a CVT gearbox and AWD system.
2026 GAC GS8 is available in petrol and hybrid powertrain options. The single fully-loaded variant of the GAC GS8 Hybrid is available at AED 169,900, while the petrol variant of the model also comes in a single variant and is priced at AED 149,900.
