In a bid to foster sustainable transportation, Mitsubishi has collaborated with MC Retail Energy and Kaluza to introduce a new pilot program for EV smart charging services aimed at reducing charging expenses in Japan.

The EV smart charging service offers Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV owners the convenience of scheduling their vehicle's charging times via a smartphone app linked to Kaluza's EV charging-control platform. This platform determines optimal charging schedules based on factors such as electricity pricing and designated charging times, ensuring cost-effective and efficient charging.
The Outlander PHEV holds the title of the world's top-selling plug-in hybrid. This specific model significantly contributes to Mitsubishi's overall sales, accounting for half of the brand's total sales volume.
Users do not require any extra equipment to utilize the charging plan, as Mitsubishi Motors' connected systems seamlessly oversee the service, interfacing with Kaluza's advanced platform. Subscribing to a charging plan exclusively designed for this service by MC Retail Energy is all that's needed.

The PoC draws inspiration from a successful project conducted in the UK. Its goal is to replicate the success by optimizing EV charging schedules to reduce carbon emissions and electricity costs.
Mitsubishi's pilot program for smart charging solutions in Japan marks a significant step towards advancing EV technology and promoting sustainable mobility. By partnering with MC Retail Energy and Kaluza, Mitsubishi aims to optimize EV charging processes, reduce charging costs, and integrate renewable energy sources into the grid. With the Outlander PHEV as a flagship model, Mitsubishi is committed to leveraging smart charging solutions to enhance the efficiency and convenience of electric vehicle ownership.
