Mitsubishi unveiled the DST seven-seat SUV concept at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show.
Aimed at families, the DST is designed as a comfortable three-row SUV for ASEAN markets, competing with models like the Hyundai Alcazar.
The DST features a midsize body, similar design elements to the Xforce, a longer wheelbase, body cladding, and large alloy wheels for a robust SUV appearance.
The cabin includes soft-touch materials, a two-spoke steering wheel, and shares an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with the Xforce.
While specific details are pending, the production model is likely to feature a 1.5-liter petrol engine with a CVT automatic gearbox and multiple driving modes.
At the Philippine International Motor Show 2024, Mitsubishi Motors introduced its new DST concept, a seven-seat SUV. Designed for comfort and space, the midsize DST features a monocoque platform that can comfortably hold seven passengers.
The Mitsubishi DST concept will evolve into a three-row SUV aimed at markets like Indonesia and other ASEAN countries where the Xforce is sold. This extended version gives customers another option in the segment, making it a competitor to the Hyundai Alcazar.
Initial images show that the DST shares many design features with the Xforce, including a longer wheelbase. It has a similar look, with significant body cladding and large alloy wheels that boost its SUV appeal.
The DST's interior features soft-touch materials and a variety of colors, along with a new two-spoke steering wheel. Some of the gauges and controls look too much like prototypes and will be changed to standard options in the final version. The DST will have the same 8-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen as the Xforce.
Although the details about the engine aren't available yet, the final model will probably use the 1.5-liter petrol engine like the Xforce. It will come with a standard CVT automatic transmission and offer four driving modes: Gravel, Mud, Normal, and Wet.
Since Mitsubishi is concentrating on ASEAN markets, the DST is unlikely to be launched in the UAE anytime soon.
Mitsubishi's new DST seven-seater SUV concept unveiled at the Philippine International Motor Show highlights the brand's commitment to expanding its offerings in the ASEAN market. Designed for families needing a spacious vehicle, the DST features a modern interior and shares design elements with the Xforce.
While specific powertrain details are yet to be confirmed, it is expected to be equipped with a 1.5-liter petrol engine and a CVT gearbox. However, its introduction in regions like the UAE may not occur in the near future as Mitsubishi focuses on markets where demand for such models is higher.
