One of the flagship luxury car brands in UAE, Mini, has unveiled the new Mini Cooper EV hatchback for the coming year, featuring a new range and performance under the bonnet. The 2024 Mini Cooper will be sold in two variants: Cooper E and Cooper SE. The EV is based on the Spotlight EV platform, designed by BMW Group and Great Wall Motors.

Mini Cooper EV will be available in two variants. The base variant Cooper E will sport a single electric motor with a 40.7kWh battery, producing 184HP and 290 Nm peak torque. The high-spec Cooper SE will get power from a larger 54.2kWh battery pack, churning 214HP and 330 Nm maximum torque.
According to reports, the Cooper E would deliver a top range of 305 km and sprint from 0-100 kmph in 7.3 seconds. The top speed of the base variant Mini Cooper 2024 would be 160 kmph. In comparison, the Cooper SE could sprint 0-100 kmph in 6.7 seconds with a top speed of 171 kmph. The maximum range of the high-spec variant is expected to be 402 km. The new mini would also feature Green and Go-Kart preset drive modes, helping the driver adjust steering, suspensions, and traction control seamlessly.

Cooper E and SE models will support 11kW AC fast charging. Additionally, the base variant will be compatible with 75kW DC fast charging. In contrast, the high-spec variant supports a 95kW DC fast charger. The luxury carmaker says Cooper can be charged 10-80% in as low as 30 minutes.
The all-new Mini Cooper will be offered in four trims: Essential, Classic, Favoured, and John Cooper Works (JCW). All trims are majorly different in terms of their aesthetics and features. Talking about JCW, it packs a sporty appeal that can be found in many previous JCW Mini variants and improved body kit and gloss badging of JCW. The bonnet has also improved by adding stripes and room in Chili Red color.
The overall design of the upcoming Mini Cooper EV has remained the same. However, one can find some changes in exterior design to lower the drag coefficient of 0.28cd. The new Cooper also has round-shaped LED headlamps, dual-tonne alloy wheels, Union Jack-inspired LED tail lamps, and an octagonal-shaped grille. The head and tail lamps feature switchable modes for bragging rights. The carmaker has offered 16-inch to 18-inch alloy wheels, which may vary from variant to variant.

Each variant has some unique design element and variations in material used inside the cabin. Most interiors are made from sustainable material, focusing on the material’s eco-friendliness and sustainability. The most attractive element of the interior is its centrally-mounted circular OLED 240mm infotainment screen, running on the OS9 operating system from Mini. It also has a “Hey Mini” virtual assistant function. Some other features include ambient lighting, a panoramic moonroof, sports seats, 200L boot space, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The 2024 Mini Cooper Electric launch is yet to be announced in the Middle East. However, as the demand for electric vehicles is soaring in Gulf countries, buyers can expect the launch of this flagship premium hatchback car by the end of this year or early next year.
