The Mercedes-Benz VLE has recently completed a long-distance road test, spanning approximately 1,100 km from Stuttgart to Rome, showcasing impressive efficiency, comfort, and agility over varied driving conditions. This real-world road test highlights the readiness of this luxury van for daily use.

On this 1,090 km journey, Mercedes-Benz used two test vehicles, navigating through diverse terrains that include winding Alpine passes, high-speed freeway stretches, and busy country roads. Despite a demanding route profile, the all-new Mercedes-Benz VLE’s electric drivetrain demonstrated efficient and reliable performance. With only two short 15-minute charging stops required to cover the entire trip, it is ideal for family travel needs. During the test, the model maintained an ideal interior temperature of 22 degrees Celsius even when the outside temperature increased to 33 degrees in Rome and 11 degrees in Stuttgart.
One of the major highlights of this long-distance road test of the VLE electric van was the innovative rear axle steering system. This technology played a significant role in enhancing handling in tight corners and narrow streets, which are common in Italian cities and mountain passes. It also enhanced the vehicle’s agility, allowing buyers to enjoy their everyday drives and weekend family trips.

On this successful test, Dr. Andreas Zygan, Head of Development at Mercedes-Benz Vans, said that the brand’s future MPV has once again demonstrated its suitability for daily use on long-distance routes. He also mentioned the two short charging stops from Stuttgart to the Alps to Rome, as well as the efficiency of Mercedes-Benz’s new Van Electric Architecture.
The recent VLE van test is part of Mercedes-Benz’s larger program aimed at making its vehicle capable of performing exceptionally in varied road terrains and validating its credibility and performance efficiency to global customers. Previously, the technology prototype of VLE completed a test drive to the North Cape in Norway and was also tested in cold weather in Sweden.
Mercedes-Benz VLE is the flagship product from the German automobile manufacturer, and it will be offered with up to an eight-seat configuration, making it ideal for families, leisure customers, and VIP shuttle services.
