Mercedes-AMG has revealed the CONCEPT AMG GT XX as its newest innovation, representing performance, endurance, and cutting-edge technological development. This latest product concept is more than a design study; it's a record-shattering machine that redefines electric performance. Mercedes-AMG has used its motorsports roots with a futuristic drivetrain to build the GT XX, pushing limits of what's possible in the age of electrification.
This extraordinary concept machine was showcased at the legendary Nardo high-speed test track in Italy, where GT XX smashed 25 long-distance records. Among all these record-breaking performances, one of the notable records was covering 5,479 kilometers in 24 hours, outperforming the previous EV endurance record by over 1,500 km. Additionally, the engineers of AMG drove CONCEPT AMG GT XX 40,075 km in just 7 days, 13 hours, 24 minutes, and 7 seconds in global track arenas.
Mercedes-AMG used two GT XX prototypes for this grueling eight-day marathon, covering over 3,177 laps at an average speed of 300 km/h, taking brakes only for ultra-fast recharges at power levels of 850kW. Even after continuous driving and intense charging temperature, the performance health of this concept EV remained in top condition.

Mercedes-AMG has used its new high-performance architecture called AMG.EA, which will soon power the next-generation AMG EVs. The core components of this innovative high-performance platform include three axial-flux motors, which are compact, light, and three times as power dense as conventional motors. There is also a directly cooled high-performance battery pack that is inspired by Formula I racing.
It uses cylindrical NCMA cells with 300 Wh/kg energy density and oil cooling for peak efficiency. The combined power delivery of this electric powertrain setup reaches over 1,360 horsepower, delivered seamlessly across the front and rear axles for quick acceleration. According to Mercedes, the concept supports over 850kW ultra-fast charging, which can make it cover 400 km in just five minutes of charging.
The GT XX borrows design inspirations from Mercedes's C111 prototype of the 1970s and record-setting AMG ONE hypercar. Its powertrain has been rigorously tested by Mercedes-AMG executives and even Formula 1 driver George Russell, noting its capability to combine F1-level responsiveness with endurance that can rival combustion powertrains.
Mercedes-AMG keeps surprising the global motorsport community with its groundbreaking innovations, and its recent unveiling shows more than just a regular electric race car. Instead, it presents a glimpse of how capable the future's electric performance car will be, overcoming limitations of range, performance, endurance, and charging capabilities.
