Kia Corporation has joined forces with Red Sea Global, one of Saudi Arabia’s leading sustainable real estate developers, marking a major step in its mission to redefine mobility. These two organizations have officially introduced a pilot program that aims to deploy Kia’s next-generation Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) into Saudi Arabia’s flagship tourist destinations, the Red Sea and AMAALA.

One of the core components of this flagship pilot program is Kia PV5 Passenger, a purpose-built electric vehicle designed with flexibility, modularity, and efficiency in mind. This collaboration will enable these major players to set a new standard for an eco-friendly travel experience.

The project will start with the deployment of PV5 Passenger in real-world service scenarios. It will serve people from the airport to the resort as well as inter-resort transport and fleet operations. The vehicle will be tested against multiple operational requirements and evaluated for the value it can add in enhancing guest experiences while also supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 of achieving net-zero emissions. The Red Sea Global has already made several initiatives to promote sustainable business operations, including a 100% solar-powered land fleet.
Kia PV5 is being considered the brand’s new generation of mobility solution that comes with a modular design and can be configured to meet diverse needs, including passenger transfer to cargo logistics. It also has connected systems for integrated software to ensure seamless coordination between hardware and software experience. As an electric vehicle, it reduces emissions and also keeps the ride smoother and quieter.
To support smooth adoption, Kia has already conducted on-site inspections, given product training, and addressed technical support for RSG’s operations team. For future fleet enhancements, Kia and RSG are also exploring the possibility of optimizing the PV5 Cargo variant for resort logistics, developing custom PBV versions developed specifically for luxury hospitality, and deploying future PBVs like PV7 and PV9 in the next couple of years.
Kia Corporation aims to sell about 250,000 units of PBVs globally by 2030, setting a new benchmark for a software-driven ecosystem of scalable, sustainable mobility solutions.
