Kia has unveiled the PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle), a novel mobility idea for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. The PBV, which will go on sale in 2026, is a modular electric vehicle (EV) platform intended to meet a variety of demands and provide more flexibility than a traditional car.

The PBV from Kia is constructed on a modular chassis that enables the installation of replaceable "life modules" that alter the vehicle's capabilities. This implies that a single PBV chassis can function as a delivery van at night and a cab during the day, providing businesses with increased efficiency.
The Korean automaker's main priorities were a lack of flexible transportation options and consumer desire for flexible solutions. The PBV offers customized mobility solutions for both individuals and enterprises in order to address these issues.
The PBV can effortlessly switch between several life modules thanks to its "Easy Swap" technology. Furthermore, the "Dynamic Hybrid" body structure allows for additional customization, guaranteeing that the PBV precisely satisfies certain needs.
Kia has a strong idea of how the PBV will develop going forward. The company's first model will be the PV5, a flexible EV perfect for utility businesses, delivery firms, and ride-hailing services. PBVs will include AI as technology develops, turning them into intelligent mobility platforms that can recognize and adjust to user behavior. According to Kia, PBVs with integrated technologies such as enhanced air mobility, autonomous driving, and similar features represent the ultimate future of mobility in the region.
The launch of Kia's PBV in the Middle East and Africa, according to SooHang Chang, President of Kia Middle East & Africa, "signifies our commitment to pioneering future-forward mobility solutions for fleets across the region."

"The PBV company, which operates on a customer-centric approach, is committed to providing freedom and flexibility by way of modular, customized cars that meet the many demands of both individuals and enterprises. Ultimately, Kia wants to make sure that all PBV cars are easy to use and intuitive, no matter where, when, or how they are put to use," he said.
On February 20 and 21, 2024, at Banyan Tree, Bluewaters Island, Dubai, the PBV was shown to the local community.
Kia's introduction of the PBV platform signifies a strategic move to address the unique needs and preferences of the Middle East and Africa markets in the realm of electric vehicles. With its adaptable design, Kia aims to offer flexibility and innovation, positioning itself as a leader in sustainable mobility solutions for the region. This initiative not only demonstrates Kia's commitment to technological advancement but also underscores its dedication to providing environmentally friendly transportation options tailored to local demands.
