At the 2025 New York International Auto Show, Kia unveiled a hatchback version of its K4 nameplate, which is currently sold as a sedan in select markets. Although the automaker teased the hatchback design last year, it is the first time Kia has officially revealed this vehicle in its entirety. A possible rival to the Volkswagen Golf, the K4 hatchback is likely to be introduced first in North America, followed by the Middle East and Asia by the end of this year.

The K4 hatchback has two engine options: a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine (147 hp and 179 Nm of torque) and a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine (190 hp and 264 Nm of torque). While the 2.0-liter engine is paired with an IVT unit, the sportier turbo petrol option has an 8-speed automatic transmission. Kia has confirmed that the K4 hatchback will be offered in three trims: EX, GT-Line, and GT-Line Turbo. The GT-Line variants will be equipped with sports-tuned suspensions for better handling.
Like its sedan counterpart, the Kia K4 hatchback will feature a similar dashboard, including a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch screen for entertainment, and a 5-inch HVAC display. The interior will also come standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera setup, a Harman Kardon sound system, heated and ventilated front seats, a sunroof, and support for over-the-air updates. The automaker has also announced that it offers 29 ADAS features and connected car technology.
The front profile resembles the K4 sedan, featuring notable elements like EV9-inspired, vertically positioned LED headlights, T-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs), and a slim signature Tiger Nose grille. However, this hatchback has a 279 mm shorter profile than its sedan counterpart, measuring 4710 mm long. The K4 sedan also features 16- and 18-inch alloy wheels and identical taillights. Kia claims that the K4 hatchback has a boot space of 628 liters, over 52% larger than the sedan counterpart. Passengers can also increase the cargo space by folding the second-row seats, which expands to 1679 liters.
