The Type 00 concept previews Jaguar's upcoming production model, set for release late next year. With a bold, dramatic design, it breaks from the brand's traditionally understated style, aiming to win over critics. Named to symbolize a fresh start and zero emissions, the Type 00 targets fans of striking aesthetics over past elegance.

Jaguar MD Rawdon Glover emphasized that the brand aims to avoid typical EV wind tunnel designs, focusing on style over range compromises. The car features a long hood, bold upright nose, flared arches, and large wheels, reflecting Jaguar's future vision.

The Type 00 show cars, in blue and pastel pink, honor Miami Art Deco colors. The concept features Jaguar's new branding elements: the Device Mark on the grille, Artist Mark on the hubcaps, and Makers Mark on the fenders, highlighting the brand's refreshed design identity.

The Type 00 features sleek headlights, an air splitter, DRLs, and air intakes at the front. A striking pattern extends from the bonnet to the dashboard, enhancing its visual appeal. Its GT proportions are accentuated by a long wheelbase, extended bonnet, and large wheels.

Although the concept features a 2-door design, the production version is expected to be a 4-door GT with a similar stance. Notable elements include a powered "prism case" hatch with personalized theme fobs and brass ingots featuring rearview cameras. At the rear, integrated hidden taillights follow a strikethrough pattern, paired with a fixed glass roof and a distinctive glassless tailgate.

The Type 00 features large butterfly doors that open to a minimalist cabin, split by a brass "spine" dividing the dashboards and concealing retractable screens for both driver and passenger. Floating seats, upholstered in a seamless wool blend, are mounted on the center console. Hidden storage compartments, a concealed sound bar, and bright interior lighting with a strikethrough pattern enhance the cabin's sleek Art Deco feel.

The production model will feature Jaguar’s Electric Architecture (JEA), aiming for a WLTP range of 770 km and a 321 km recharge in about 15 minutes. Unlike Tata Motors’ EMA platform for Avinya vehicles, JEA is exclusive to Jaguar's UK-made models, with no plans for Tata integration.

Set for launch in late 2025 in key markets like the US and UK, the 4-door GT will position Jaguar firmly in the high-end segment, enhancing its prestige beyond the "mass premium" category. Future models will cater to diverse roles and broader audiences.

Verdict

The Jaguar Type 00 concept signals a bold new direction for the brand, blending cutting-edge electric technology with striking design elements. With its exclusive Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) and ambitious performance targets, the upcoming 4-door GT aims to redefine Jaguar’s presence in the luxury EV market. Launching in 2025, it promises to elevate the brand’s reputation and appeal to a broader global audience, marking a significant step towards a dynamic, electric future.
