Rimac has unveiled its all-electric hypercar, the Nevera R, built to surpass the performance of its previous model.
The Nevera R delivers 2,107 horsepower, hitting 217 mph and potentially reaching 256 mph with Rimac’s guidance. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.74 seconds, though its driving range is still unknown.
The original Rimac Nevera, which began production in 2022 and cost $2.5 million, has 1,914 horsepower. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 1.85 seconds and can reach 258 mph, making it the fastest production car at the time of its release.
The Nevera R has better aerodynamics and a sleeker design than the standard model. Rimac aims to boost interest in electric hypercars with this limited edition, producing only 40 units as part of the original Nevera’s total run. Despite its impressive performance, Rimac has struggled to sell the 150 units of the original Nevera three years after its launch.
The Nevera R features improved all-wheel torque-vectoring technology, a new steering rack, and Michelin Cup 2 tires for better handling. It has a large front diffuser and a fixed rear wing, boosting aerodynamic efficiency by 10% and downforce by 15%. The car is equipped with carbon-ceramic EVO2 brakes to manage its higher power. Rimac says these updates set a new standard for driving excitement on twisty roads. It keeps the standard model’s 108kWh battery, but the range details are not yet available.
The Nevera R will come in a new color called Nebula Green, inspired by the Lightning Green accents of the Nevera Time Attack. Its interior will offer various trim and color options for more personalization. With these features, the Nevera R is expected to be very popular among collectors.
The Rimac Nevera R, with its remarkable 2,107 horsepower and innovative design, sets new standards for electric hypercars. Featuring improved aerodynamics, advanced torque-vectoring, and exclusive color options, this limited-edition model aims to captivate enthusiasts and collectors alike. Despite its impressive performance, it remains to be seen how it will fare in the market compared to its predecessor.
