European company Ineos Automotive only produces a few different models. This London-based company offers robust off-road cars that are uncommon yet nonetheless desirable to acquire. Ineos Automotive has been in the spotlight since late 2022, despite the parent firm, Ineos Group Limited, having been since the late 1990s. We are interested in the new Grenadier Quartermaster Pickup, even if the Grenadier Station Wagon was the original.
When the Grenadier Quartermaster Chassis Cab was first introduced in July 2023, rumors circulated that it was the Ineos Grenadier SUV's pickup truck counterpart. Although there is some truth, the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster Pickup is not a replica of the company's previous SUV model. As Ineos Automotive stated, versions of the new Grenadier Quartermaster Pickup are available for business use, emergency response, and recreational purposes.
INEOS Automotive's Commercial Director, George Ratcliffe, spoke about this vehicle. According to Ratcliffe, "Launching the Quartermaster Chassis Cab is a natural step that takes our off-road expertise into many commercial areas that need a class-leading 4X4." He added, "In the first year since the Grenadier launched we have already seen some specialist conversions, particularly with emergency services such as fire, police, and inshore rescue."
The Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster Chassis Cab Pickup's exterior design prioritizes toughness and off-roadability over style and aerodynamics, much like its SUV sibling. With its circular headlamps, foglights hidden in the main grille, extra intakes above and below the grille, and an obnoxious front bumper that protrudes, the flat front fascia is nearly identical to the Grenadier Station Wagon. The lower apron is equipped with two tow hooks and a robust bash plate.
The Grenadier Quartermaster Pickup's side features steel wheels, exposed door hinges and bolts, protective strips along the roof and doors, flared fenders with deep wheel arches, and metal bars where the main bed is located all contribute to its tough appearance. The Ineos pickup's rear end has a rather simple design, with round LED taillights, a basic bumper with integrated tow hooks, and a bottom-hinged tailgate with a big "Grenadier" emblem.
The snorkel, 18-inch alloy wheels, and roof-mounted "Safari" windows available on the Grenadier Quartermaster Pickup vary depending on the model. When viewed from the front and/or front three-quarter views, many people may mistake the Quartermaster Pickup's overall style for a cross between the Mercedes G-Wagon and the previous Land Rover Defender. But the Grenadier Quartermaster Pickup, which is the key component of an old-school off-road vehicle, has precisely the appropriate amount of technology blended with its boxy DNA.
The Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster Chassis Cab's interior is one that many people who get a glance inside would adore. Some design elements of this interior are reminiscent of those seen in a Jeep Wrangler or the new Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon; in other words, it feels and looks positively modern.
A small screen displaying system information replaces the typical gauge cluster, which is one of the first things most people will notice about this setup. The state of the vehicle's safety-related and mechanical systems, such as seatbelts and outside lights, will be displayed on this little screen to the driver. You might not always be able to take in as much information with a single glance because of its small size.
On the other hand, a variety of information is available on the widescreen central display, which includes the vehicle's current speed and gear selection in addition to many other crucial vehicle-related details. A digital read-out compass, simple-to-operate AC vents with fashionable circular side units, and two grab handles in front of the front passenger are all located on the practical dashboard. The leather-wrapped steering wheel bearing the 'Grenadier' trademark is attractive, yet the engine is started using an antiquated key method.
Then there are numerous exposed screws in the Grenadier Quartermaster's center stack, which further contribute to the car's raw appeal. The rotary dials and two-way switches in this area of the dashboard have LED information in the center, and the button for the warning lights is neatly placed in the center. Three levers are located further down. The first one engages the handbrake, the second engages the gear selection borrowed from BMW, and the third engages the various 4WD settings.
There are advanced driver assistance systems, or ADAS, available with the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster. Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Driver Drowsiness Detection, and Intelligent Speed Assist are some of the ADAS features of this pickup truck. A premium audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, several power outlets throughout, puddle lamps, heated door mirrors, heated windscreen washers, and ambient interior lighting are all included with the Grenadier Quartermaster.
With a 3.0-liter straight-six BMW turbocharged petrol engine producing 282 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster Pickup is equipped with two motors. Through the ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox, the engine distributes power to all four wheels. For improved grip on any surface, the engine's power can also be sent through a center differential and a special two-speed transfer case.
A butch body-on-frame off-road vehicle like the Grenadier Quartermaster can reach 100 km/h in around 9 seconds, so it is not likely to be particularly speedy. The maximum speed, meanwhile, is about 160 km/h. The Grenadier Quartermaster Pickup isn't quick, but it pays off when you go off the usual route. That's when you realize you might have purchased the appropriate tools for the task.
Launch of the new Grenadier Quartermaster Pickup by Ineos Automotive marks an exciting addition to the automotive market. With its rugged design and versatile capabilities, the Grenadier Quartermaster Pickup offers a compelling option for consumers seeking durability and functionality in their vehicles.
